My story started in my teenager years when I discovered the joy and challenge of endurance sports. I participated in running, swimming and multisports events. Obviously, trial and error was not the approach to chase for personal best performances. I realized that I could benefit from diving into sport sciences to understand how to improve exercise performance.
I studied physical education at the Louvain University (KUL) and obtained a doctor's degree in exercise physiology and biomechanics. Meanwhile I experienced that coaching athletes is as fun as doing the sport myself.
Bridging the gap between sport science and practice drives my coaching and research.
From the moment I started with competition mountainbike at the age of 15, my life’s trajectory was set. 25 years later my passion for endurance sports remains the same, fuelled by striking results like multiple National Championship titles, participation at the London 2012 Olympic Games and top 10 at the World Championships. Besides an active athlete I also have a broad scientific background. I have a Master’s degree in Physical Education, am a certified Trainer A cyclingcoach and conduct doctoral research at Ghent University. With years of hands-on coaching experience, I've honed the ability to translate my athletic insights and academic knowledge into practical, results-driven training strategies to empower endurance athletes to reach their full potential.
